A rant on Ducati owners...

I know most of us grew up riding [or still ride] Ducatis but recently I've found Ducati owners in general to be totally annoying. Is it just me? I find them to be really close-minded about bikes/groups/forums that don't involve v-twins. Who the f cares? To top it off, it seems like only 10% of people who have Ducatis actually put miles on their bikes and know how to ride. - Ride the damn thing, it's what it's made for. They're f*ckin dorks who's bikes are like precious little projects that they dump all their money into and barely ride them - like a "big" 3 hour trip to bear mountain and another hour just to clean it. Ugh. OK.. I'm done. Am I a jerk?

I guess it this argument could apply to any bike scene... people do the same with Harleys.. it's just annoying.

Oh Pat, it'll be good to see you again...

As far as Duc owners... I feel the exact same way and have felt that way since I owned the monster, fucking garage queens.

To fair to all though, I have a problem with all the japanese sportbike owners as well... most can't ride, most of the bikes are too clean, and most of the bikes have chicken strip 3 inches wide. And what's up with all that chrome anyway?!

Harley riders? Don't EVEN get me started...

Just like finding folks to ride with... it's seems the cool bike owners are few and far between.

How does saying go - "I wouldn't want to be a part of a club that would have me a s a member."

I'm cranky. I'm spending all my time on the computer planning this freaking trip and I haven't had a meaningful ride in weeks. [/rant]

I hear you, Pat. GC nailed it - I don't want to be a member of a club that has me as a member. Any car / moto club has its annoyances. I have tons of stories about classic Mustang owners, about Aston Martin owners and don't get me started on Ferrari owners.

It's all about the ride and the drive. We are lucky enough (the 8 of us) that we all like riding together.

That's why we see each other on Sundays - rather that bulshitting at "The Ear" on weekday evenings.

I cannot WAIT for Wednesday! See you in NC, Pat!

I think motorcycles in general are a way for most people who own them to pretend they're cooler than they are. Ten percent sounds high to me--I hardly see ANYONE out riding for real except on BMWs in the dead of winter. Somehow their bikes still look OK anyway...
